Midas Mount Finalist In Microsoft Small Business Contest

Midas Mount would use the funds from the grant to complete fulfillment of a Kickstarter project for the SnapFocus Follow Focus System that was launched a few years ago. The Kickstarter project for the SnapFocus was funded beyond expectations. The company was not prepared for mass production and ran out of Kickstarter funding re-designing and re-developing the SnapFocus.

"Like a lot of overfunded Kickstarter projects, we were paralyzed by the amount of orders the crowdfunding site generated," Cole said. "We were able to secure investment capital to complete about half of our Kickstarter SnapFocus rewards. A grant like this would allow us to finally cross the finish line and get our Kickstarter backers the product they have been waiting for so patiently for so long."

The Microsoft Small Business Contest asked entrepreneurs like Cole to submit a 2-minute color video telling the story of their small business startup and to share their successes and challenges.

"The major success and major challenge with this startup for me was the same event," Cole said. "Our Kickstarter project for the SnapFocus Follow Focus System put us on the map and just about put us out of business at the same time."

A panel of judges selected the ten finalist videos in the Microsoft Small Business Contest. Now it's up to public voting to determine the winner of the $20,000 grant. Votes can be made once a day through January 30th from each Facebook profile. "This Microsoft grant is really the opportunity we have been waiting for," Cole said. "We hope that our Kickstarter backers from the SnapFocus project will lend us a little extra support and vote on our video in the Microsoft contest every day through January 30th."
