Bell Nunnally Adds Senior Counsel Sonja McGill

DALLAS - Jan. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Bell Nunnally & Martin LLP has added Sonja J. McGill as senior counsel. She joins the firm from HMS Holdings, Inc. where she served as in-house counsel based in the company’s Irving, Texas office. Prior to her role at HMS, McGill served as in-house counsel for Plano, Texas-based J.C. Penney. During her time in these positions, she successfully tried multiple nationwide labor and employment claims in state and federal court and in arbitration and served as first-chair trial defense attorney on numerous cases.

McGill joins the firm’s labor and employment and litigation practice areas with extensive experience as a trial attorney in all phases of employment law and commercial litigation. She provides strategic advice and counsel on a broad range of employment issues, including recruiting, hiring, employee relations, discipline and terminations, internal investigations, leaves of absence, wage and hour compliance, labor relations, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) compliance, contingent worker issues and immigration compliance management. McGill also frequently serves as a mediator and negotiator.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (J.D., 1998; MPA, 1998) and Princeton University (B.A., 1993), McGill is active in her communities. Among other memberships and activities, she is a board member for the Dallas Historical Society, a Texas Bar Foundation fellow, a member of Leadership Dallas 2014 and the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the immediate past president of the Princeton Alumni Association of Dallas/Fort Worth.
