Riverpoint Management Plans Strategic Objectives for 2015

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Riverpoint Management team has recently been working on setting strategic goals for the firm in 2015. Company director of operations, Kelly, discussed good goal-setting practices.

PHILADELPHIA - Jan. 19, 2015 - PRLog -- The experiential marketing firm is evidently setting ambitious goals for itself in the coming year. According to Kelly this is not an isolated occurrence. In fact, the team believes that they must constantly drive to accomplish more if they want to stay ahead in their industry. As Kelly explained: “We come to work every day assuming that all of our competitors are going to be playing their A-game. That means that we have to push ourselves all the time in order to reach new heights for ourselves and our clients. If we get too comfortable, we’ll eventually fall behind.”

She continued to highlight some best practices for setting goals. Kelly strongly advised using the S.M.A.R.T. guidelines for creating business objectives. This is a system that holds all goals should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. In other words, they should have clear parameters that will define whether the team accomplished them in a timely manner or not. Kelly also indicated that the best goals are typically realistic to achieve, but just challenging enough to keep the team focused.

“It is important to have goals that we are really committed to,” she added. “Part of this is having clear and realistic goals. It is also partially making our goals known throughout our organization. This not only helps to get everyone on the same page but also adds a little bit of positive pressure to perform – it’s a lot easier to fall short of an objective no one knows about.”

Riverpoint Management’s Director Examines How to Achieve Goals

Once they’ve set their goals, the Riverpoint Management team has to go about actually achieving them. Kelly offered some additional advice on how to do so. She first pointed out that setting effective goals is a big initial step toward actually achieving them. “By writing clear strategic objectives and communicating them to the whole team, we’ve already given ourselves a big leg up.”

She also described a process in which her team engages to help them identify how to get to where they want to be: visualizing the end result. This process may seem a little unusual; but simply thinking about what will be different when they achieve the goal provides further motivation and helps to identify the steps necessary to get there. Kelly indicated that the latter benefit is particularly important.

“It’s essential to make smaller steps in order to reach our big goals,” she stated. “As they say: Rome wasn’t built in a day. Similarly, we’re not going to finish any of these goals overnight, we need to know exactly what daily tasks will enable us to get there. This is also great motivation – it’s a lot easier to take a small step than a giant leap at first. All in all, achieving goals comes down to setting well established objectives and knowing the path you need to take to get there.”
