Fundraiser “Share to Care” Will Help Provide Support Services for Caregivers

Guiding Lights Caregiver Support Center will host its fifth annual “Share to Care” fundraiser.
RALEIGH, N.C. - Jan. 15, 2015 - PRLog -- The executive chefs from 7 local senior living communities will compete in an exciting culinary challenge – they represent Atria Oakridge, Brookdale Senior Living, Holiday Retirement, SearStone, Sunrise Senior Living, Waltonwood Senior Living, and Woodland Terrace.  The competition will be judged by three premier local chefs for the “Silver Spoon” award and by the community attendees for the “Peoples’ Choice” award.  In years past the judges have been stunned by the talent exhibited by the judges and have in the past given a perfect score which is almost unheard of in the culinary field.  Foodies take notice!

The presenting sponsor this year is Pruitt Health and we have many additional sponsors:  Community Homecare and Hospice, Gentiva Home Health, Homewatch CareGivers, Transitions LifeCare, Heartland Hospice, I-Sai-So Wellbeing Monitor, Nurse Care of North Carolina, Premier Therapy Services, Rex Healthcare, Saber Healthcare Group, Waltonwood Senior Living, Well Care Home Health, Seniors Guide, and Senior Living Guide.

The theme for the event this year is “Lights” a Paris Gala and will feature “moulin rouge” inspired live entertainment, a live auction emceed by Scott Fitzgerald from WPTF, a Curtis Media Group, and an award winning Deejay.  The Master of Ceremonies will be ABC11’s news anchor Anna Laurel.

Guiding Lights assists family and professional caregivers and care recipients who are living with one or more disabling, acute and/or chronic illnesses by helping them advocate for their caregiving needs. The organization creates individualized care plans and connects families to appropriate service providers, with the goal of helping them obtain practical, affordable, applicable and loving support. Guiding Lights provides information, referral, education and support. The majority of services are made available to family caregivers at no charge.

“Share to Care is critical to the operation of our organization,” said Nicole Bruno, Executive Director of Guiding Lights, “this event is great way to have fun while raising funds to serve caregivers and their loved ones.”  We are also hoping to establish a respite fund from some of the money raised at the event this year to provide a break for caregivers that cannot afford to pay for care.
