Follow on Google News | Carlisle Events to Host a Special Display on the Main Floor at the 2015 Philadelphia Auto ShowThe Philly Face-off Returns Bigger and Better than Ever with an Import vs. Domestic Theme
By: Carlisle Events In one corner, you’ll have cars from overseas and should expect to see representation from Porsche, SAAB, Audi, Volvo, Honda, Toyota and BMW just to name a few. The other corner hosts cars and trucks primarily produced by Ford, GM and Mopar. The winner will be determined by popular vote with fans serving as judges. It happens for fun, it happens for bragging rights, and it happens as automotive groups converge on the City of Brotherly Love. While brands are listed above for example purposes, options for these two displays are nearly limitless. Not only does this showdown feature popular rides from around the world, it’s backed by Carlisle Events, the world’s preeminent leader in collector car entertainment. Local and regional car enthusiasts also play a part in fielding cars as part of the competition. Experience something that “every man” (or woman) can be part of by attending the show and supporting autos that are either imported or made in the U.S.A. Forget about the NFL’s “big game,” the NCAA’s March frenzy or NASCAR’s big race at Daytona, this competition is made by the fans and for the fans! Each side will be stacked with cars and assembled in the same manner as a championship sports team would be. The difference in this case is that instead of a singular coach, a group of managers will work together to field the best of the best cars and trucks for the display. Even with experts at the helm to select the cars, the process wasn’t simple. From November through early January, anyone interested in being part of the display visited www.CarlisleEvents.com. From there, they applied for the special invitational display. At that point, much like the newly implemented college football playoff selection committee, a group of Carlisle Events’ automotive experts accepted cars into the displays. “Carlisle Events is excited to be a part of the Philly Face-Off and the prestigious Philadelphia Auto Show for the third year,” said Business and Event Development Associate Director Ed Scholly. “Philadelphia is a very close city in the hearts of many residents in our Harrisburg area home, so we are happy to be a part of bringing a good old fashion brawl to a competitive town like Philadelphia,” “We are thrilled to partner with Carlisle Events for the third annual Face-off which will see Imports battle it out with Domestics for the championship title,” said Mike Gempp, Philadelphia Auto Show director. “Carlisle Events is renowned for its specialty automotive shows and their expertise in niche automotive collections will make this year’s Face-off the most exciting one yet for Auto Show attendees.” Many applied but only a few dozen were accepted. Now, with the dust settling on the selection process, the thousands who pass through the gates can cast their vote and let their voice be heard. Voters who take part in the process and provide complete information are eligible for the grand prize which comes courtesy of Pocono Raceway. The prize pack carries both an import and domestic theme, with a pair of passes to each of the three races at Pocono Speedway in the summer of 2015. Passes are good for the June and August Sprint Cup NASCAR races as well as the August INDYCAR race. Two races, a generous Carlisle Events goody package, a 2015 season pass from Carlisle Events and other items will go to the grand prize winner, while one race and an additional Carlisle Events goody bag will go to a second winner. Plus, the winner of the competition will earn the prestige of being Philly’s favorite for 2015! Most important, a total of $2,500 will be allocated to a pair of charities, Toys for Tots and the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. Witness stiff competition, automotive history and some of the best rides from around the world as part of the 114th annual Philadelphia Auto Show, all starting January 31. End
