ATLANTA - Jan. 15, 2015 - PRLog -- HomeAid Atlanta announced the recipients of its ninth annual awards during the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s Installation and Awards Program at the Hyatt Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina on January 14.  Awards were presented for Builder of the Year, Trade Partner of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.  These awards honor organizations and individuals demonstrating great commitment to HomeAid Atlanta and its mission of building new lives for homeless families and individuals through housing and community outreach.

The three award recipients were:

2014 Builder of the Year – Vincent Longo, Vincent Longo Custom Builders
2014 Trade Partner of the Year – ProBuild
2014 Volunteer of the Year – State Bank & Trust Company

The award recipients are knowledgeable and passionate about HomeAid Atlanta’s mission and are committed to improving Atlanta’s homeless crisis.  They have given generously of their time and talents in their respective roles.

“HomeAid Atlanta is pleased to have the opportunity to honor State Bank & Trust Company, ProBuild, and Vincent Longo for their exceptional efforts to make a difference in the lives of Atlanta’s temporarily homeless families and individuals,” said Alec Rickenbaker, HomeAid board president.

The HomeAid Atlanta Builder of the Year Award honors a devoted builder advocate of HomeAid Atlanta.  In 2014, Vincent Longo of Vincent Longo Custom Builders volunteered to serve as the Builder Captain for a major renovation project at The Drake House in Roswell.  The project broke ground in early November.  Upon completion, the complete office renovation and two-story expansion will include a new Teen Center, life skills classroom, improvements for ADA compliance and an expanded food pantry.  Throughout the planning and construction process, Vince has proven to be very generous with his time and resources.  Vince is an active member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and currently serves on its Board of Directors.

The HomeAid Atlanta Trade Partner of the Year Award honors an extraordinary non-builder partner of HomeAid Atlanta.  Since 2008, ProBuild has made in-kind donations to many of HomeAid’s shelter projects as well as acting as a corporate sponsor.  In 2014, this company generously provided in-kind donations for the construction of a new six-story apartment building at Rainbow Village in Duluth, as well as materials for The Drake House project.  Their extraordinary generosity is not limited to the HomeAid Atlanta chapter, this company donates to several other chapters throughout the nation and are represented on the national HomeAid America board as well.  ProBuild has been very helpful in securing additional product donations from its partners for the HomeAid projects as well.  It is certain that HomeAid’s build projects would not be nearly as successful in 2014 without their generous gifts.

The HomeAid Atlanta Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to a dedicated volunteer or group for outstanding service.  A longtime HomeAid supporter, State Bank &Trust was the largest donor to the 2014 Essentials for Young Lives Drive, HomeAid’s annual drive to collect essential baby items for mothers and children in need.  Volunteers from this company held collections at seven Atlanta locations, gave generously to the drive, and continued their unique annual contest for best decorated Essentials display.  They helped sponsor HomeAid’s first ever Essentials Celebration and an employee from this company volunteered on the Essentials committee for the seventh year in a row.  Additionally, Dale McCain-Boyd of State Bank acted as the HomeAid Atlanta board president in 2014, providing exceptional leadership for the chapter.  Additionally, volunteers from this company assisted with the Housing the Homeless Golf Tournament and Appreciation Lunch.  This company is a major donor and supporter of HomeAid Atlanta in every sense of the word and we are extremely fortunate to have their involvement.

The award winners were nominated by HomeAid Atlanta’s board of directors and staff, and selected based on their service and commitment to HomeAid Atlanta and its mission. Congratulations to all the award recipients!
