On January 12, 2015 House Passes Bill to Increase Jobs for Veterans

Jan. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- The United States Congress unanimously passed legislation Tuesday that would exempt veterans with government-subsidized health care from being counted in the number of employees for whom employers must provide health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, (Obamacare).

The name of the bill is called the Hire More Heroes Act (H.R. 22 (https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/22?q=%7B%22search%22%3A%5B%22H.R.+22%22%5D%7D)). This bill is aimed at giving small businesses relief under Obamacare’s employer mandate while at the same time it will hopefully encourage the private sector to hire more veterans. It is a bipartisan bill, sponsored by Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Ill. Vets who already have health care through the Defense or Veterans Affairs departments are exempt  from being counted as part of the 50-employee limit that triggers the Affordable Care Act’s employer mandate.

Finally, some common sense is being utilized in Congress. To this writer, this is a no brainer. Why would you mandate an employer to give an employee health care when they already have it from another source.  In this instance, employers I believe will seek to hire veterans so they can save money on health insurance. Oh NO!, a Win-Win situation. I believe it’s a duty of our country to take care of our veterans and help them in any way we can. This is part of that. This in my mind will increase the number of jobs for veterans.

We as a country need to hire our Heroes. People who put their lives at risk to ensure our freedom and our way of life deserve our support. Wounded Warriors or Disabled American Veterans for their sacrifice and service for our country in my opinion should go to the head of the line as long as they are qualified when they search for jobs. As the economy recovers and more employers are hiring, again as long as they are qualified for a position veterans and especially disabled American veterans should be hired.

So what is the corporate culture for hiring a vet? Tons of praises for tons of employers out there who are proactive in hiring veterans and in our specific case disabled American veterans (DAV) at Job Opportunities for Disabled American Veterans or www.JOFDAV.com . If you come to our national job board, you will find hundreds of those employers who have posted jobs with us to hire disabled American veterans.

Finally, finally, the U.S. Congress shows some common sense!
