Follow on Google News | GUEST SPEAKER Announced: New Visionaries: Photographers Who Bridge Art + CommerceOpening (FEB 5) Featuring talk by : MARCELO GOMES ( Apple, Levi's, Urban Outfitters, Digawel, Samsung) Show runs Feb 5 – April 21 at Mount Ida College
In “New Visionaries: “In our new commercial photography degree program we are driving home to our students that photographers must possess the ability to translate personal visions into real world commercial imagery.” We could think of no better way to teach our students than by bringing together this international group of photographers and guest speakers,” states Alison Poor-Donahue, the chair of Mount Ida’s department of Graphic Design and co-curator. “We want to illustrate with this exhibition, that in today’s hyper-visual culture, there is a need for brands to develop visual identities,” On display will be photographers ranging from recently graduated, to advanced career professionals that will highlight the many possible paths for a long sustainable career in photography. The exhibition includes photographers such as Andrew Eccles, who has quite literally, photographed everyone who is a “who’s who.” It will include local and recent graduates from the region’s programs, just beginning to build their client list, as well as French photographers Estelle Hanania who won the photo prize at the 2006 Hyères Festival and Charles-Henry Bédué who recently won the internationally recognized Foam Talent Award 2014. “We are extremely excited by the response and support for the exhibition for celebrating our new major,” says Poor-Donahue. “We obviously stirred the pot, as we have more than 65 photographers who have submitted their work to date, and we are still receiving requests to be part of the show.” The opening reception takes place February 5, at 6 pm in the School of Design at Mount Ida College, 777 Dedham Street in Newton and is being sponsored in part by Hahnemühle Paper and Panopticon Gallery. The exhibit is free and open to the public. https://www.facebook.com/ http://instagram.com/ https://twitter.com/ End
