Plan of Action/Mobilization-Implementation

Housing:


Expansion plans call for the expansion of Veterans Village from 122 units to 250 units along with the expansion of intensive onsite supportive services. Plan of action to be unveiled depicting the expansion and the master plan solution.

The Problem:

Homelessness and chronic poverty is a primary problem in Downtown Las Vegas and Southern Nevada. The current housing and support service delivery system is disjointed, seamed, unorganized and is a fragmented process for United States Veterans.

This problem is widespread throughout Downtown Las Vegas and immediate area surrounding the Downtown.

Expanded Services to include:

·         24/7 Crisis Intervention Triage Services

·         Three Square Regional Food Bank Center.

·         Job Placement partnerships.

·         Work card/SNAP card processing.

·         Clothing bank (Veterans Village Thrift Stores).

·         Medical Service in partnership with Touro University Medical Van.

·         State of Nevada Department of Mental Health Services.

·         Intensive supportive services through collaborative partnerships with:

o    HELP of Southern Nevada.

o    Freedom House, Las Vegas, Nevada

o    US Department of Veteran Affairs, Las Vegas, Nevada

o    US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Las Vegas, Nevada.

o    City of Las Vegas

o    Clark County, Nevada

o    WestCare Nevada

o    HELP of Southern Nevada

o    United Way of Southern Nevada

o    Three Square Regional Food Bank

o    American Red Cross, Southern Nevada Chapter

o    The Downtown Rangers

o    State of Nevada Department of Mental Health Services

o    Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department
