Attorney Robert Bellinger Volunteers With Backpacks of Hope

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Jan. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- On December 19, Robert Bellinger of the Bellinger Law Office volunteered with the Backpacks of Hope program in Fort Wayne, IN. Created in 2011, the charitable organization aims to end world poverty by collecting needed items and donating them to community members. Backpacks of Hope organizes several events throughout the year, with their December 19 program ending their work for 2014.

Backpacks of Hope was created in memory of John “Zachery” Septer, who drowned in a tragic accident at the age of 21. Before his death, Septer had been extremely involved with efforts to help the homeless population of Fort Wayne, volunteering with the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission and even sleeping and eating with impoverished city residents. To honor his legacy in the wake of their loss, Septer’s family decided to fill backpacks with basic necessities and donate them to the Rescue Mission. After filling 50 backpacks with items homeless men and women would need for the winter, the Septer Family was inspired to create a nonprofit program that regularly collects and shares these needed items.

Currently, Backpacks of Hope uses a drop-off service to collect a variety of supplies, including backpacks, soap, shampoo, toiletries, hats, gloves, socks, blankets, water and nonperishable food items. These donations are packed into backpacks and distributed through the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission and several soup kitchens throughout northeastern Indiana. However, the organization needs more volunteers to help support the community and their cause. Robert Bellinger was one individual who took time to help this worthy cause over the holiday season, supporting needy members of Fort Wayne and helping Backpacks of Hope pay it forward. Unsurprisingly, reactions to his involvement have been very positive thus far.
