EVESHAM, U.K. - Jan. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- Happy New Year!

We’ve been a little quiet on the horse front over the last couple of months – this is due to some unfortunate events, but with the New Year brings new beginnings and some good news!

As I’m sure you aware, Thats Ben (IRE) was having some difficulty with his breathing at the end of his runs. A week before Christmas he underwent an operation to help him with this and to correct his wind, allowing him to breathe much easier when under pressure at the end of his races. The operation was a success and he enjoyed a week off to recover over Christmas. He spent 10 days in light work, easing him back into the routine and is now back in full work and thriving!

Looking forward, we hope to be making some racing plans for him in the near future so keep your eyes peeled for updates on this. He is extremely well handicapped off a mark of 77 and his best Racing Post rating is 47lbs at 124.

Swing State is currently with our friends at Peopleton Racehorse Care. Shani Payne, together with Jake, Clarissa and Julian upped the rate of his work last week. He is striding out well and thoroughly enjoying it! He will visit the all-weather three times this week before returning to Tom Gretton Racing and resuming full training on the 17/01/15.

Lordship (IRE) is keeping Swing Sate company at Shani Payne’s yard – he is still resting after injuring his tendon. We’re not rushing him; he will need a long period of recovery before we can consider the possibility of returning him to the racecourse. Our main aim is to help him make a full recovery for whatever capacity will suit him the best in the long run.

Dover The Moon (IRE), Group 1 Racing’s newest addition, had his first race over hurdles in September at Sedgefield and was very encouraging. He ran extremely well and maintained 3rd place throughout the race; however he got caught at the last minute and was beaten by a neck for the finish. Placed 4th, he was still welcome in the Winners Enclosure and all the members who were there on the day enjoyed the outing! The winner of this race, Full Day (GB),  went on to win a Listed race at Wetherby a month later. Dover The Moon (IRE) is a fast ground horse so was given a rest in October and November, started light work in December and is now being prepared for his first full season in Spring 2015.

The monthly Group 1 Member get-togethers are still going strong – taking place on the last Saturday of every month. Despite it being Christmas, the get together still went ahead as planned on Saturday 27th December with sausage sandwiches bringing a light relief from all that turkey over the festive period! These meetings not only give our members a chance to see the horses train on the gallops, but it encourages the social aspect of the group with great racing craic! The next meeting will take place on Saturday 31st January 2015, 10.30am at Tom Gretton Racing in Inkberrow.
