Follow on Google News | Triathlete Trainer Promotes a Movement MindsetBy: Multimovin Fitness “In 2009, the Air Force made drastic changes to its procedures regarding fitness and I was shocked by how many of my fellow airmen could not pass the basic test,” he said. “Five of my good friends were actually discharged from the military because they couldn’t meet the fitness requirements. The failure rate for the fitness test in the Air Force has been 15% or more for quite some time now and at that’s why I decided to do something to help my fellow airmen with their fitness.” Carstensen began to work with his friends to improve their fitness and the results he produced convinced him that he could help others as well. After discharging from the Air Force because of a shoulder injury, he began to work with personal trainers on rehabilitation. Several of the personal trainers he worked with displayed some less than desirable behavior such as being tardy for appointments and talking on the phone during training sessions. The lack of professionalism he observed in his personal trainers inspired him to start Multimovin Fitness in March of 2012. “I felt that I could provide better service than I was seeing from a lot of the personal trainers out there,” he said. “They taught me what not to do. I wanted Mulitmovin Fitness to be about creating a lifestyle of movement and good health.” With a background as a competitor in eight triathlons, Carstensen chose triathlete training as Multimovin Fitness’ business niche. He received his personal training certification from the National Exercise and Sport Trainers Association (NESTA) and has a Level 1 certification from USA Triathlon (USAT). In 2013, he earned his group fitness certification from the American Council on Exercise and is also one of only four individuals in Nevada who are USAT Race Director certified. Armed with a solid education, Carstensen began to help triathletes with their training in person and online. “I’m different than a lot of trainers because I prefer to work with very small groups,” he said. “Working with less people allows me to really focus on the needs of my clients. We do a lot of face to face interaction.” Even though Multomovin Fitness trains triathletes, Carstensen will work with anyone who wants to improve their health with exercise. “The emphasis of Multimovin Fitness is helping people become liberated through movement,” he said. “I want to help people to become more active so they can pursue their goals and be happy with who they are. All movement helps your mindset.” The mission of Multimovin Fitness is to inspire people to take daily action toward a healthier lifestyle End
