CHICAGO - Jan. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Julene Allen is a Chicago native, activist, military veteran, writer, Founder and Creative Director of leading organization Women For Action. The organization was founded with the premise to promote gender equality by championing women and girls around the world through multi-media.

Julene’s daily call to action consist of interviewing both national and international changemakers and notable subjects whose work and story could aid in closing the gap between genders. To name a few, her prestigious repertoire consist of interview subjects such as Lauren Parsekian Paul, Emmy Award Winning Producer Linda Midgett and Sylvia Puente, Executive Director of the Latino Policy Forum in Chicago.

With the support of Women For Action, Allen spearheads a campaign ( to elevate August 26th, Women’s Equality Day to a federal holiday. A petition was launched on November 4, 2014 which proposes 100,000 from the public. The petition explains that despite the holiday’s forty-three year existence, it is dimly recognized and must be raised to highlight women’s contributions. This proposal could bring the U.S. a step closer towards balancing the scale and commemorating efforts that support inclusiveness and equality. This is one of many initiatives that is driving the young activist to the center stage.

In 2014, Julene Allen briefly volunteered as President to develop Chicago’s first chapter for the U.S. National Committee for UN Women. She has also made special appearances for several film premieres through Women For Action’s partnerships such as the Honor Diaries documentary and for the films Sepideh and The Supreme Price which were funneled by Chicago’s Human Rights Watch.

A website plans to launch at ( to further shed light on Julene’s activism work and creative interests such as her love for collecting, antique and vintage restoration, and fine-art innovations.
