Throughout the year, the section presents a variety of educational programs, both in person and via webcast, that are eligible for MCLE credit. Bloom’s environmental and natural resources practice involves counseling, litigation and transactional work. Matters have included Proposition 65, negotiating some of the largest brownfields transfers in the nation and Clean Water Act and hazardous waste litigation. A member of the executive committee for the Environmental Law Section since 2010, Bloom served as chair in 2013, vice chair in 2012 and treasurer in both 2011 and 2010. He is a graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law (J.D., 1990) and the University at Albany, State University of New York (M.A., 1982; B.A., 1981). Zeppetello has extensive experience with counseling and litigation related to federal and state environmental laws, with emphasis on the Clean Water Act, cleanup of contaminated property and cost recovery, hazardous waste management, the Clean Air Act and land use. He has been a member of the Environmental Law Section for more than 20 years and was previously vice chair of its executive committee in 2014 and secretary in 2013. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (J.D., 1985) and the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry (B.S., 1977). Metres advises clients on regulatory, enforcement and litigation matters arising under federal, state and local land use and environmental laws, with a focus on the federal and California Endangered Species Acts, the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). He has been a member of the executive committee for the Environmental Law Section since 2011. Metres is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (J.D., 2010) and Northwestern University (B.A., 2002).
