ArtisTech Media Releases Part Way There Remixed - on TuneTrack.net Today
By: ArtisTech Media
Formed across time zones and continents, Ghost K includes long-time ccMixter community beloved members CDK, _Ghost and Tacet.
“The remix album is a beautiful reflection of all the things we've grown to love about ccMixter and Creative Commons,” Tacet shares. “The remixes are diverse, stylish and surprising. The remix album relates to the original by way of lineage, we provided the DNA for each of the tracks and the community made exciting new creations from our building blocks.”
CDK agreed, “Absolutely. ccMixter provides some of the best creative minds on the internet and it is a privilege to work with a community of friends. This album has a very unique sound that reflects the wide array of talent involved while still keeping true to our Ghost Kollective sound.
“It's a view from a different perspective,”
Ghost K's 61 Moons project continues with an evolving story that compliments the music and is available on their website: http://www.ghostkollective.com/
“We all have a shared love for music that tells a story, across an album,” Tacet explains. “It's the polar opposite of what we'd done before with our other ccMixter remixes and collaborations, where each song is an island. We've been busting for some time to write a short science fiction story, so it seemed like a good idea to combine those two things; music and short story.”
"The ccMixter community was inspired immediately by this unique remix project," commented Emily Richards, CEO of ArtisTech Media, the company that operates ccMixter.org. "Ghost K gave us a wonderful gift in providing all of those quality stems to create and interact with. All of the remixes shared on ccMixter are worth listening to."

ccMixter.org, the most prominent experiment in free music culture, began in 2004 with a series of remix contests hosted by Creative Commons in conjunction with Wired Magazine featuring The Beastie Boys, David Byrne and other innovative musicians. Lawrence Lessig, founding board member of Creative Commons, says of ccMixter: “The first important thing about Creative Commons is that it’s artist based. It’s artists who choose what freedoms they’re going to give people when it comes to access to their work.”
