Shanti Arts Publishing Combines Poetry and Photography with its Latest Release
By: Shanti Arts
Tom Whayne and Katherine Wilson met late in life while training to become docents at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. For twenty-three years they enjoyed a relationship sustained by immeasurable love and constant companionship, knowing all the while they were "playing the long last game." In 2010, "Kat" suffered a subdural hematoma. Until her death three years later, Whayne wrote poetry, his beautifully crafted words describing moments of love and beauty as well as pain and anguish. Of Strength and Grace: Elegy for Love is the collection of these poems, accompanied by photographs of aging family and friends in the life of Paradise.
Poet Tom Whayne was born in 1924 in Oakland, California. He spent most of his career teaching drama at Oakland Technical High School in Oakland, California. Whayne’s love of art led him to become a docent at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and lead tours to museums around the world. For many years, he wrote a column for The Publication, a San Diego art magazine.
Jane Paradise is a photographic artist who lives in both Provincetown, Massachusetts, and San Francisco, California. Her photographs have been exhibited in solo and featured shows at the Griffin Museum of Photography, Winchester, Massachusetts;
