My Friend, My Friend, Mr. Stuart Scott

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Jan. 4, 2015 - PRLog -- As I awoke this Sunday morning, I flipped on Sportscenter as I'm accustomed to while ironing, only  to learn of the passing of Stuart Scott. I am weak this morning, for I feel that I lost a dear friend. Not that I met Stuart Scott in person; but, he had a candid gift of converting every viewer into that  buddy sitting next to you on the couch. A good friend of mine, Mr. Kevin "Khao" Cates once said, "It's one thing to be important, however it is everything to be significant". Mr. Stuart Scott was definitely significant! He was significant in the fact that he revolutionized the art of sports casting. As a journalist, I idolized the art that Mr. Stuart Scott crafted while he worked during his broadcasts. He transcended the cliché style of sports broadcasting by bringing a homeboy feel to the show. It was at that moment during the late 90's when ESPN, transformed from being a sports station to a sport entertainment Conglomerate. I truly attribute much of the success of ESPN to Mr. Stuart Scott.  I remember thinking as I watched Sportscenter, wow, that dude is so cool. Whether a BOO-YA! After a game winning home run, or illustrating an amazing dunk by Michael Jordan, Mr. Scott added a flare that not only made the ESPN network fashionable, but,  the athletes themselves. I am truly thankful and honored to have known Stuart Scott and will say on the behalf of media professionals Nationwide, Job well done! I just hope that his children and family will remember Mr. Scott as an true pioneer who gave life everything he had! As he learned of his fight with cancer, he continued to contribute to the network between chemotherapy treatments. Known as the "battle horse", by many for his resilience and joyous spirit, he was a survivor who refused to succumb to the fate that one day he would lose. I for one, would encourage you to YouTube the acceptance speech he gave during receiving the Jimmy V Perseverance award in 2014. The speech personifies  Mr. Stuart Scott and the hope  we all should carry as human beings. I hope the family of Mr. Scott receives this piece, for I send my most dearest condolences and prayers that the family knows that Heaven has just made room for one more angel-
