Visual Paradigm Introduces VP 12.0

Visual Paradigm International, a leading provider of visual modeling software, announces the release of Visual Paradigm version 12.0 of their software design product today.

Dec. 23, 2014 - PRLog -- Visual Paradigm supports software design with modeling languages like UML, SysML, BPMN, ERD, DFD, etc. It also comes along with code engineering, database engineering, hibernate, wireframe, etc. Version 12.0 of Visual Paradigm introduces 14 major new features, more than 20 small features and enhancements. The following lists out a summary of the new and enhanced features.

[New Features]

The Sleek UI
Visual Paradigm has introduced a new theme called ‘sleek’. With the sleek theme, the diagram editor is now much bigger than ever. Functionalities and commands are now organized within the new modular toolbar and are very convenient to access. Here are some of the significant changes come with the sleek theme:

Sophisticated searching - A handy, powerful search feature that allows you to find model elements, views and diagrams quickly.

Diagrams view - Browse project based on the diagrams in it. You can view the diagrams in the Diagrams view and open a diagram from there easily.

Model Structure view – Browse project based on the model structure. You can view diagrams in the models and open a diagram from there easily.

Team recent and My recent – List out the recently browsed diagrams. You can view the diagrams browsed by teammates (Team Recent) or by you (My Recent).

REST API support
REST is a modern architecture style for designing networked applications. It is a new generation communication mechanism comparing to traditional mechanisms like CORBA, RPC and SOAP. In Visual Paradigm 12.0, service provider can draw class diagram and then generate REST API for Java. User of service can use the API as well as the generated specification to access for the service provided.

UeXceler enhancements
UeXceler, the requirements gathering guideline introduced by Visual Paradigm, is updated to support the following features:

Supported categorizing user stories with tag - Group and categorize user stories by adding.

Able to add sub-diagrams and references to user story – You can optionally add sub-diagrams or reference material, including supplementary files that help to design the system. A sample usage would be to draw a sub-activity diagram to visualize the desired behavior of a user story.

Supported creating and linking user story from use case statement - You can identify and create user story from use case statement. When you create a user story from a use case statement, the <role> and <business objective> will become the description of user story

Storyboard
Create scenario-based storyboards for your wireframes. You can present the wireframes to client by ‘playing’ the wireframes as slideshow.

Screen capture tool in wireframe
You may capture a screenshot of an existing user interface and embed it into your wireframe as a reference.

In-flow and out-flow modeling in sub-diagram
Visualize in sub-diagram the entrance and exit of the diagram. You can also connect the entrance/exit with sub-diagram content. This enhancement is available for sub-BPD, sub-state machine diagram, sub-activity diagram and sub-DFD.

[Enhanced Features]

Importing ArchiMate diagram from Visio drawing
You can now import into Visual Paradigm the ArchiMate diagrams you created with Microsoft Visio.

Copy, cut and paste Teamwork File
You can now copy, cut and paste file within Teamwork File pane by using hotkeys (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-X ad Ctrl-V) or with popup menu.

'Copy Path' for Teamwork Files
You can now copy the absolute and relative path of files in Teamwork File pane.

Hiding out nullable icon in ERD
Optionally show or hide nullable symbols in entity shapes in ERD.

Attach Teamwork File to Tasifier
When posting a comment in Tasifier in Visual Paradigm, you can now attach Teamwork Files to your post.

Configure font & color for wireframe elements
Instead of drawing wireframe in grayscale, you can now set color to wireframe elements as well as to configure the font used.

Quick selection of current date in date pickers of Tasifier
When choosing a date in any date picker in Tasifier, you can select the current date immediately on the top of the date picker.

Removed Edit and Cancel button in Tasifier
Edit a task name or description can be done directly by clicking on the content, instead of clicking on any Edit button.

Produce documents for UeXceler
More document templates are supported for UeXceler data like use case statements, sprint, etc.

"Show Link" for user story
Create and link user stories - A link is a unique address of an element in a project. You can share a link with teammate, so to let him/her to locate an element quickly and accurately. Now, the link feature is enhanced to support user story, which means that you can show the link of a user story, share it with your teammate and let him/her to open the user story with the link.
