WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Dec. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast

Hosted 28th Annual Golf Classic

(West Palm Beach, FL - December 22, 2014) Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches & Treasure Coast (JA), who empower young people to own their economic success and reach over 20,000 students in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Hendry Counties, held their 28th Annual Golf Classic on December 5, 2014 at Jonathan’s Landing Old Trail at the Fazio Course. The event is one of four throughout the year to raise money for the programs that Junior Achievement provides to over 20,000 students.

The 2014 JA Golf Classic Chair Emeritus is long-time JA supporter David Nicholson of the Stiles-Nicholson Foundation. The Co-Chairs with the event were JA Board Member Carlos Alvarez, Senior VP Commercial Banking of PNC Bank and Jim Walton, President of Southwest Greens of Florida, LLC who donated the putting green. Southwest Greens, endorsed by Jack Nicklaus, an undeniable legend in the game of golf, is the largest supplier and installer of artificial grass putting greens and synthetic turf grass. Sponsors for this year’s tournament include The Stiles Nicholson Foundation, The Esther B. O’Keeffe Foundation, G4S, Cocuy, Burns & Co. P.A., Bozetarnik & Company, LLP, Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Constellation Brands with Corona Extra and Modelo especial.

During the event, two members from the Northwood University Golf Team were there to drive for the golfers on two separate holes. Bobby Bradley with Charity Golf International was also there to drive for the golfers and to raise funds for JA. For the first time during a JA golf event there was a golf ball launcher on a tee for the golfers to substitute for a drive. The golf ball launcher had 100% participation. There was not a silent auction this year but an online auction for anyone in Florida to bid on items, such as a putting green to be built in the winner’s backyard.

Proceeds of this event will support the ongoing operations of JA and the programs it brings to students in grades kindergarten through high school across Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Hendry Counties.

Junior Achievement is the world's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. JA programs are delivered by corporate and community volunteers, and provide relevant, hands-on experiences that give students from kindergarten through twelfth grade knowledge and skills in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship. JA programs are taught by volunteers in the classroom and after school in over 120 schools and organizations throughout Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, and Hendry Counties. Junior Achievement programs are funded through contributions from businesses, individuals, foundations, and special event fundraisers. Visit www.juniorachievement.com for more information.
