Edwardsville, IL Startup OneLegacy Launches Story Sharing Project on Kickstarter

OneLegacy, a global life story sharing project, is on a mission to curate and publish one million real life stories from around the world – stories that may otherwise be lost.

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Dec. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Do you have a legacy to share? Mike Stith of Edwardsville, IL thinks so, and he wants to publish it. Stith is the founder and “Chief Story Officer” of OneLegacy.com, a startup business that provides a community and online publishing platform for inspiring life stories, or legacies.

“I truly believe that we all have a legacy to share,” said Stith. “Some of us have 5, 10, even dozens! There are certain stories and events that happen in our lives that transcend your day-to-day coffee table type of chat. Certain things that impact us so much more that we want to share in the hope that other people can learn from our experience. Sometimes we would like to pass on legacy at a larger scale than your typical conversation can give you. These stories are our legacy, and they are what OneLegacy is all about.”

Stith created OneLegacy.com after retiring from a 30-year career in IT and taking on the role of caregiver to his ailing mother and father. During these challenging times, Stith witnessed firsthand the deep healing and sense of peace that comes from sharing one’s legacy. This profound experience led Stith to make collecting and preserving these inspiring legacy stories a part of his own personal legacy.

“We’re at a place right now where we’re ready to rev up the engines and start pulling in more stories and more readers into the OneLegacy community,” said Stith. “We’ve already had people from 4 different countries contribute hundreds of stories to our project. Teachers, veterans, families…all walks of life. We’ve taken time to refine our process, create our brand, and build some really neat programs to promote legacy sharing. We’re off to a great start, but it’s just that – a start. Now it’s time to branch out and scale our project, which is where Kickstarter comes in.”

OneLegacy.com has launched a campaign on the popular crowdfunding platform, Kickstarter, to help raise the capital and community support needed to take the project to the next level. Stith aims to raise at least $10,000 by February 2nd, 2015. Backers can invest at various levels (from $1 to $7500) in exchange for ebooks, gift products, story sharing tools and services, and even a live story-sharing event hosted by OneLegacy.com.

For the OneLegacy.com Kickstarter campaign, Stith has paired up with Blayzer (http://www.blayzer.com), a St. Louis integrated marketing and web development company that helps tech startups get off the ground. Blayzer is helping OneLegacy navigate the crowdfunding process by creating copy, graphics and video content, managing and promoting the campaign, and communicating with friends and backers.

“Reaching our goals isn’t going to be easy, but with your support and investment I know we can get there,” said Stith. “Your donation of any amount will be a big help to us.”
