COLUMBUS, Ohio - Dec. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- Columbus, Ohio – The Great Vacations Travel EXPO, presented by AAA, announced today that celebrated daredevil and high-wire artist Nik Wallenda will headline at the EXPO. Wallenda takes the AAA Travel Stage on Sunday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m.  During an awe-inspiring presentation, Wallenda will detail what it's like walking a tightrope, what makes him do it and how travelers can see the world from a different angle. Wallenda also will answer audience members’ questions and pose for photos. Complete information about the Great Vacations Travel EXPO is available online at www.AAAGreatVacations.com.

Representing the seventh generation of the legendary Great Wallendas, Nik began walking the wire at age four and has since completed a host of jaw-dropping stunts. The former circus performer-turned-daredevil stunned the world in 2012 when he became the first man to make the 34-minute high-wire walk through blinding spray and powerful winds over Niagara Falls. He didn’t stop there: In June of 2013, Wallenda became the first person ever to cross the Grand Canyon on wire with no safety net or harness. He again captured international attention in November 2014 when he traversed a 544-foot wire stretched 600 feet above the ground between Chicago’s Marina Tower and the Leo Burnett Building -- all while blindfolded and without a harness.

In Wallenda’s biography, "Balance: A Story of Faith, Family & Life," he chronicles the challenges and triumphs of his many high-risk stunts, along with his incredible journey from circus performer to world-renowned high-wire artist and daredevil. His wife Erendira, a high-energy circus performer herself, has stood by his side through it all. The pair's three children carry on generations of the craft, learning stunts and performance from their parents.

The Great Vacations Travel EXPO, presented by AAA, opens Friday, Jan. 16, and runs through Sunday, Jan. 18, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Downtown Columbus.   EXPO hours are: Friday noon to 7 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the door or at any AAA Ohio Auto Club store for $8.  AAA members who show their AAA card will receive 50%-off on admission.  Children ages 16 and under are admitted at no charge.  For additional event details, or to purchase tickets in advance, visit www.AAAGreatVacations.com.
