Team USPA Sets Sights on Winning Zone A Playoffs to Earn a Place in FIP World Polo Championship Fin

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Dec. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- The United States Polo Association (USPA) announced today that Team USPA, who is representing the United States, will square off in a round-robin tournament against three other national teams (Canada, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic), this week in the FIP Zone A Playoffs. The winner of the Zone A Playoffs will earn a spot at the FIP World Championship Finals where they will compete against the winners of the three other FIP Zones.

There is perhaps no greater honor for an athlete than to represent his nation at the highest level of international sporting competition. Representing the United States in the FIP Zone A Playoffs as Team USPA are: Mason Wroe, Felipe Viana, Patrick Uretz, Jared Sheldon, Will Tankard, and Jesse Bray, and coach Joel Baker.

Wroe (Texas A&M), Viana (University of Virginia), Uretz (Westmont University), Sheldon (New Mexico State) and Tankard (Texas Tech) have all come up the ranks through the United States Polo Association Intercollegiate polo program, and exceled through their involvement with Team USPA. These players demonstrate the highest levels of skill, horsemanship and sportsmanship that our sport has to offer.

“Team USPA consists of 6 young men that are not only very talented, but also have a very strong work ethic and character,” said Joel Baker, Head Coach of Team USPA.   “They have dedicated themselves to each other and are constantly looking for ways to help each of their teammates be the best polo player he can possibly be.  It has been quite gratifying to see them jell as a team, on and off the field.”
