Rackemann Attorney Appointed to Massachusetts State Ethics Commission

BOSTON - Dec. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- Rackemann, Sawyer and Brewster is pleased to announce that David A. Mills, who is Of Counsel at the firm, has been appointed to the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission. Judge Mills, a former Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court, was named to the Commission by Governor Deval S. Patrick.

The State Ethics Commission administers and enforces the conflict of interest and financial disclosure laws and has jurisdiction over state, county and municipal employees. It is made up of five members, with three appointments made by the Governor, one by the Attorney General and one by the Secretary of the Commonwealth. All members of the Commission are appointed to staggered five-year terms.

“I am honored by Governor Patrick's confidence in me,” said Judge Mills, “and I have already been warmly welcomed by Commission Chair Barbara Dortch-Okara and my other fellow commissioners. I very am eager to begin my work with the commission."

Judge Mills joined Rackemann, Sawyer & Brewster earlier this year, and currently serves as a member of the Danvers Board of Selectmen. He served as an Associate Justice on the Massachusetts Appeals Court from 2001 to 2012, where he was the principal author of more than 100 published decisions.  He is also a former Middlesex County Assistant District Attorney and a former Assistant Attorney General. Judge Mills is a graduate of Boston College and Boston College Law School.
