BATON ROUGE, La. - Dec. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- DECEMBER 3 (DALLAS) – Just in time for the summer blockbuster season of 2015, Baton Rouge’s Citiplace Stadium 11 (http://www.fandango.com/maps/DrivingDirections.aspx?tid=AAJIO) will be getting a major facelift as New Orleans-based Southern Theaters takes over the property in January and creates a state-of-the-art, in-theater dining experience with Louisiana’s second-ever Movie Tavern (http://www.movietavern.com/). The new multi-use cinema eatery is scheduled to open in May 2015.

“The Capital City and East Baton Rouge Parish is close to my heart, which is why we have been looking to build here for years,” said Southern Theaters CEO (parent company of Movie Tavern) George Solomon. “This is more to me than bringing a new family-friendly experience to this great city; it’s providing Baton Rouge with all the benefits of great entertainment that any other city in this country has at its disposal. I’m proud that the people of Baton Rouge will now be able to enjoy the Movie Tavern experience.”

Currently, the Citiplace complex is a conventional theater but all that will change in January when Southern Theaters and Movie Tavern begin construction. The plans include a progressive, full-service experience including:

State of the art sound systems, digital projectors, 3D

Full service in-theater dining for all 10 screens

Luxury recliners in every auditorium with call-button dining service at every seat

All-reserved, stadium seating with wide aisles for fast unobtrusive service

“This will be our second Movie Tavern location in Louisiana, and we are planning a third location in Denham Springs for late summer 2015,” said Southern Theatres Director of Marketing, Danny DiGiacomo. “We bring a unique movie-going experience that includes full service, a casual dining menu, a complete wine list, Top Shelf margaritas and signature drinks, and popular and craft beer on tap.”

The new 45,193 square-foot complex will bring more than 200 full- and part-time jobs to Baton Rouge, and close to 100 temporary jobs for construction. Movie Tavern is a family-friendly environment. Guests 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian age 21 or older.
