Thousands Participate in McGladrey’s Fifth Annual Volunteer Day

CHICAGO - Dec. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- McGladrey LLP, the nation's leading provider of assurance, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market, recently held its fifth annual nationwide McGladrey Volunteer Day. As part of the event, more than 2,400 employees and clients stepped away from their desks to give back to their local communities. Volunteers participated in more than 110 activities from 95 different charitable organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Club, PAWS, Olive Crest, Ronald McDonald House, Second Harvest Food Bank and Salvation Army, just to name a few.

Each year during McGladrey Volunteer Day, employees and clients come together to showcase the firm's core value of stewardship. This year,  McGladrey offices across the country turned to their local communities to lend a helping hand by packing donated food; painting, cleaning and reorganizing buildings; planting bushes and trees; assisting seniors; helping construct new homes; helping four-legged friends at zoos and rescue shelters; and many other activities. A number of the nonprofits that benefitted from McGladrey Volunteer Day are clients of the firm, which provided opportunities to build relationships while simultaneously supporting the unique needs of the communities where the firm’s employees live and work.

Not only did this year mark the fifth annual McGladrey Volunteer Day, it also marked the fifth annual McGladrey Classic, a PGA Tour event sponsored by McGladrey. Through the first four years of The McGladrey Classic, the firm has helped raise nearly $2 million dollars for Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Georgia and other children- and family-focused charitable organizations. A large part of these financial donations came from the tournament’s Birdies Fore Love program, which McGladrey employees, clients and friends have supported by raising more than $400,000 each of the last two years. In honor of the fifth anniversary, McGladrey highlighted on its website the top five charities that have benefitted from the Birdies Fore Love program (http://mcgladrey.com/content/mcgladrey/en_US/newsroom/gol...).
