STANWOOD, Wash. - Nov. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Camano Island, WA, December 1, 2014 – The December 2014 issue of Northwest Mom Magazine includes a ten-page dance and fashion photo spread of small business owner, Terah Partridge. The magazine was looking to create an arts-inspired photography section which captured the spirit of beautiful Christmas dance and music, such as holiday favorite, Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker.”

The idea was to showcase beautiful clothing and shoes, supplied by Nordstrom’s, that would be appropriate for concerts, dance performances, cocktail parties and office galas.

“With the holidays being the height of the fine arts season, NWM dreamed of using a ballerina mom as our fashion model. Terah Partridge’s contagious smile and high energy made her a natural choice. Terah ‘accidentally’ started her thriving business, Camano Island Dance Academy…when she saw the need for higher quality dance instruction closer to home,” says NW Mom Magazine Editor, Lydia Crouch. “She made my idea for a photo shoot fly high. WOW.”

The magazine staff was excited to utilize the Camano Dance Academy studios as the location for their photo shoot, a challenge they had not previously attempted. Fairy lights and fabric were brought in to drape the mirror and create the dreamy holiday background. Cellos, violins, cocktail glasses and pointe shoes were all used as props.

“It was definitely interesting to try to balance in pointe shoes on top of slippery fabric while trying to balance a cello,” says Terah Partridge. “The photo shoot took about eight hours, and after being en pointe for so long, I actually lost my big toenail the next day – but it was worth it! It was so amazing to see all the women on the Northwest Mom Magazine staff working together to manifest their vision for the ‘Lyrical Elegance’ section. I loved the mix of music, fashion, and dance.”

Dance is a high priority for Terah Partridge. As the Director of Camano Dance Academy, she teaches weekly ballet, pointe, acro and lyrical dance classes, and also oversees the studio’s business operations. Christmas is a busy time for the dancers at CDA, as they will soon be performing in Lake Stevens at the Dickens Fair, at the Tulalip Resort for the Festival of Trees, and in Warm Beach for four performances at the Lights of Christmas.

“The holidays and dance just go hand-in-hand,” Terah says.
