In 1991, St. John’s Community Services began providing employment and community-based adult-day services in Virginia (http://www.sjcs.org/ Today, SJCS-VA supports adults with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities with comprehensive services so that they may live, work, participate and develop relationships in communities of their choosing. Through amazing services and community-based philosophy, SJCS-VA is licensed (http://lpss.dbhds.virginia.gov/ What Are We Asking For? SJCS-VA operates 7 community-based group homes for adults with disabilities. We rely on donations to cover the expense of maintaining these houses. This year, SJCS-VA is embarking on a campaign to redesign our homes to make them more warm and inviting for the people we serve. Your donation will help us to achieve the following: Overhauling the living areas of our 7 homes (Living room, kitchen, dining room, and bath) with sturdy, updated, and comfortable furniture. Relocating from one home to another more accessible home with bedrooms on the main level for our aging population and larger living areas for wheelchair accessibility. Adding amenities to enhance sensory and motor skills. Bigger televisions for individuals with vision impairment, Wii game console to promote fitness and motor skills, grills for summertime BBQs and social gatherings, and computers for learning and developmental skill building. We are using Indiegogo to launch our campaign. http://igg.me/ Donation Overview and Impact Your generous donation is very important to the individuals we serve.
