SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Nov. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- As a Western Star Truck dealer, Jenkins Diesel announced today the launch of the NEW Western Star 5700XE, which begins production this spring.

“We are excited about the Western Star 5700XE,” said Jim Jenkins, President of Jenkins Diesel. “The new features and benefits of the new 5700XE are ideal for anyone with plans for replacement or expansion.”

The 5700XE was unveiled in Las Vegas September 11, 2014 and limited production is slated for April 1, 2015 with full production planned for July 1, 2015. Jenkins Diesel will be the first to exhibit the 5700XE at the Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville, Kentucky March 26 -28, 2015. Preorders are available through Jenkins Diesel now.

The 5700XE will be available in a variety of configurations to meet a wide range of over-the-road applications, including long-haul, less-than-truckload, bulk, refrigerated, and many other specialty applications. The flagship configuration will offer power train options from Daimler’s Detroit components subsidiary including three Detroit DD series engines and the DT12 transmission.

The first trucks will be powered by the Detroit 15 and 16 liter engines coupled with the DT12, Detroit’s automated manual transmission to achieve the maximum fuel efficiency goals.  The AMT combines a traditional clutch-actuated manual gearbox with a computer – controlled shift actuator and clutch. Additionally, popular manual transmissions will be available as options, and the Detroit 13 liter will be available at a later date.

Western Star’s integrated design features for the 5700XE revolve around the issues most meaningful to the owner.  Examples of these design elements are balancing power without sacrificing fuel economy, maximizing durability while minimizing weight, and fusing Daimler technology and innovation with durability and performance that is legendary with Western Star. The driving experience of all Western Star trucks is exceptional, but the exceptional differences are magnified in the 5700XE.

With the all-new Western Star 5700XE, Daimler has set new standards of innovation for the trucking industry.  Virtually every design feature of this new truck has the ultimate goal of improving profitability and reducing the cost of ownership.

Jenkins Diesel begins taking preorders for the Western Star 5700XE fall, 2014.
