Local bakery expanding in Belize

SAN IGNACIO, Belize - Nov. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Travelling on a cruise this year in the Caribbean?  Not to be a downer, but the cruise industry unintentionally causes considerable damage to the natural environments of some of the ports the ships visit.  One of those countries, Belize, is particularily hard hit, due to its fragile reef ecosystem (the 2nd largest barrier reef system in the world) and pristine rainforest that is not used to the volume of visitors cruises bring.

Cheeky Monkey Ltd. seeks to offset some of the damage to the Belize environment and sensitive cultural traditions of the residents by producing souvenir products for the visiting cruise passengers.  They do this by ensuring the products that Cheeky Monkey Ltd. has developed are produced entirely with locally sourced, responsibly farmed organic ingredients, by employing an entirely Belizean workforce and by using local vendors and artisans.  Cheeky Monkey Ltd. seeks to provide financial benefit to the citizens and residents of Belize through employment, purchase of raw goods from only local vendors and through giving back a portion of all sales to wildlife refuges, reef protection groups and funds that support disadvantaged youth.

Cheeky Monkey Ltd. is operated by a husband and wife team who have many years of professional food service experience, in markets in North America, Europe and now Belize.  They fell in love with Belize many years ago and have been channeling all of their efforts in recent years toward developing Cheeky Monkey Ltd. and seeing the company grow and support the local economy and natural beauty of Belize.
