Students Soar Thorough The Air In A Holiday Favorite

BOULDER, Colo. - Nov. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- BOULDER, CO – Frequent Flyers® Aerial Dance’s Student Company takes Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" and turns it upside down – literally! Using low-flying trapeze, stilts, hoops, aerial chains, fabric and much more Scrooge will soar at The Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder, CO December 12^th – 14^th. There will be Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30pm and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2pm. The show and student company director Danielle Garrison says, “I am incredibly excited about Scrooge: A Holiday Flight because the message Charles Dickens conveys is still so pertinent to today's world.  I think it can still deeply inspire the dancers involved, as well as the audience, to act more kindly and with a bit more compassion for those around them.  It's really all about appreciating those around you".

"Scrooge: A Holiday Flight" is brought to life by Frequent Flyers’ student company, over forty dancers ranging from elementary school through adult. In the show audiences will meet Marley, Scrooge’s deceased business partner played by Erin Mercer who haunts Scrooge while dancing on aerial chains. Patrons will also see teenage aerialists greedily spinning on coin-like aerial hoops, youth flyers soaring on trapezes, and young Scrooge and his former love Belle dancing in an acrobatic duet.

Frequent Flyers' artistic director, Nancy Smith, says: "Our student company is comprised of a wonderful cross-section of our community's youth, teens and adults. This performance opportunity provides everyone with an opportunity to learn choreography on the ground and in the air while building community. Audiences will enjoy experiencing our talented students grace, skill, and passion through this original production."

Audiences will join Scrooge as three Holiday Ghosts visit and take him to the past, present, and future.  They will discover along with Scrooge how the desire for love, harmony and compassion can overcome greed and take one to new heights.
