WASHINGTON - Nov. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- NJ MED with several national academic and community service organizations are targeting incoming high school freshmen, in over 18,000 US high schools from November 22, 2014 to January 20, 2015, to help prepare them to develop the necessary skills for entering the US Workforce for the 21st Century.

Currently, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment 2022 Projections, there will be a shortage of over a million qualified high skill workers for the US Workforce. The National High School Graduation Pledge Campaign hopes to close that gap by working with local communities, businesses, and high schools to ask students to take a four-year pledge to address the problem.

The nationwide pledge campaign was launched today with its Annual National High School Signing Day Event; to recognize and encourage students who have already taken the pledge to develop higher job skills by promising to enroll in higher education at the completion of high school, to become more tech-savvy, increase their future earning potential, and create a better school learning environment.

NJ MED with the National High School Graduation Pledge Campaign supporters will help students stay on track to fulfill their 4-year commitment by offering free support services to the students, the high schools and student’s parents. These services will include afterschool computer classes, teen drug prevention, financial management, community service projects, and linking high schools with college credits and businesses career path training programs, and community parent support workshops.

Participating in the National High School Graduation Pledge Campaign is free and at no cost to School Districts, High Schools, students, or parents. Registering for high schools to participate ends on January 16, 2015 for the high school graduating Class of 2018, and for students on January 20, 2015. Registration information and details are available online at http://usstudentpledge.org
