Andy Peters’ Debut Comedy Album Available Now From AST Records

LOS ANGELES - Nov. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Andy Peters is pleased to present his debut album, Exclamation Mark Question Point, now available on 12” vinyl record from Aspecialthing Records. A standout comic for years in his hometown of Seattle, Peters now calls Los Angeles home. He hosts the mobile podcast Wandertown and has performed at Bridgetown Comedy Festival and South by Southwest.

Peters’ album is unique in that it was recorded during a single show at The Virgil in Los Angeles. "We took the one set that I did, and split it into tracks,” said Peters. “The idea is for the audience to take in every aspect of the show. The sounds of the room, the interruptions, the made up non-joke jokes, everything. We decided on vinyl because, well, it’s vinyl. It’s a record the way a record is intended. I want you to set the needle down and walk away. Just listen."

The recording of Exclamation Mark Question Point happened seamlessly; Peters delivered a set that was relaxed, but unexpected. Known for his fearless off-the-cuff riffs, Peters enjoys “getting to the audience like no other,” and the night of his album recording was no exception.

“The whole process of making this album happened very naturally,” said Peters. “Long time comedy producers and amazing friends, Mandee Johnson and Joel Mandelkorn of The Super Serious Show […] sort of kicked me in the right direction. They put everything in place. They have cultivated a fantastic relationship with The Virgil.”

Fans are thrilled to be able to share more of Peters’ humor with friends. "Hopefully, more of the world laugh will as hard as we do at [Peters'] spirited and hysterical performances," said founder of The Comedy Bureau Jake Kroeger.

Peters gave special attention to the artwork for his vinyl record. “I grew up listening to records at my Grandma Bea’s house,” he said. “I just loved listening to them and just flipping through and looking at the artwork […] I really drew from early Nichols and May, Don Rickles, and Buddy Hackett albums for inspiration. All of those albums have classic names and imagery, but also give a great sense of the performer.”

The title Exclamation Mark Question Point comes from the symbol “!?” because, Peters explained, “I find that I yell questions a lot during my act.” Mandee Johnson did the album photography, and Garrett Ross did the design. “I couldn’t be happier with it,” said Peters.

Throughout the album recording process, Peters said there has been a pleasantly surprising and “overwhelming amount of support,” including the huge turnout for the album recording show. “People really showed up,” he said, “I will never forget it.”
