Bosco Tech to Receive More Than $2,000,000 from the Frank R. Seaver Trust

Generous Seaver Gift to Bosco Tech Will Provide Scholarships and Financial Aid

SAN GABRIEL, Calif. - Nov. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- The Frank R. Seaver Trust has awarded Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech) more than $2,000,000 to establish a scholarship and financial aid endowment. The gift is a bequest from the will of Frank R. Seaver, a former Bosco Tech Trustee and the former CEO and founder of Hydril Company, an international supplier of oil field equipment.

“The initial phase of the Frank R. Seaver Trust’s very generous gift will directly benefit current and future students by providing financial support to hard-working, deserving young men who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to enroll in our program,” said Alberto Pimentel, president of Bosco Tech. “The endowment is in keeping with the school’s mission to develop young people who will become leaders in their communities, regardless of their current financial situation.”

Pimentel continued, “Bosco Tech is extremely grateful for the Trust’s ongoing support and confidence. Their generosity to our school continues to make a positive impact on our program and our students. Through this most recent gift, we will expand our outreach efforts to students with limited financial resources, as well as provide scholarships for students who are academic stars, but not in need of financial assistance. Ultimately, many more prospective students, beginning in the 2015-2016 academic year, will have access to our unique applied sciences and technology program.”

“The Seaver Institute and the Seaver family have been active and positive supporters of Bosco Tech since the school’s founding in 1955, and we are very thankful for this recent donation”, said Ed Gavaldon, chairman of the Bosco Tech Board of Trustees.

Victoria Seaver Dean, president of The Seaver Institute said, “We are pleased that the academic and technology focused education that attracted Uncle Frank to Bosco Tech continues to be meaningful and that this endowment will allow more motivated students to attend. “

Bosco Tech is the only all-male Catholic high school in the state that combines a rigorous college-preparatory program with a technology-focused education. The innovative science, engineering, technology and math (STEM) curriculum allows students to exceed university admission requirements while completing extensive integrated coursework in one of several applied science and engineering fields.

The school will host an Open House on Sunday, November 23, from noon to 4 p.m. offering a glimpse of the program to prospective students. For further information, contact Co-Director of Admissions Valeria De Luna at vdeluna@boscotech.edu or 626-940-2009.
