A Day at the Beach/Día de Playa Ebook Offers Lessons in Spanish Language and Culinary Arts

Teachers and Learners Can Set Their Own Price For Limited Time

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Nov. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- For a limited time, Latina author, Kali Amanda Browne of Amapola Press is offering the ebook selection "A Day at the Beach/Día de Playa."

"A Day at the Beach / Día de Playa" recounts a childhood beach outing in Puerto Rico (multicultural studies). Written in English in 9th grade reading level, the story includes a glossary of words in Spanish (vocabulary building) and recipes of food referenced in the story (culinary studies). Meant as a slice of life, not as a standard but as a solitary example from a personal perspective.

The ebook includes relatively easy recipes for side dishes that are traditionally served during the holidays, such as arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas) and a variation--a salad with orzo; and green bananas in a pickling sauce.

"One of the missions of Amapola Press is to expnad the horizons of its readers," said Kali Amanda Browne, the author and publisher. "This is an experiment in providing entertaining and educational materials at affordable price points for teachers, independent learners, and home schoolers."

The expectation is that how readers receive the material and criticize it will mold future entries in this catagory of books published.

For a limited time, buyers may set their own price at Smashwords at http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/494763. The ebook will also become available at Amazon, in the Kindle Store, before Thanksgiving 2014.
