MEVEG hosts the 42nd IVU World VegFest in Dubai

Nov. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Dubai, 20th November 2014: Middle East Vegetarian Group (MEVEG) hosts the 42nd International Vegetarian Union World VegFest in Dubai from the 25-27 November 2014 at the Hall 4 - Dubai International Exhibition and Conferences Centre. Organized by the volunteers of Middle East Veg Group (MEVEG) in Dubai, the IVU World VegFest will be held alongside the Middle East Natural and Organic Products Exhibition (MENOPE).

Powered with seminars, cooking workshops, illuminating debates and panel discussions the three-day event will focus on the importance of better health, a sustainable environment and animal welfare.

With a main aim of promoting healthier standards of Vegan living the World VegFest will include presentations on the benefits of supporting Natural, Organic, Raw, Local, Slow, and Gluten Free Foods.

Around 300 global food industry experts, medical and environment experts, students, teachers, women and chefs are expected to attend the World VegFest to interact and exchange ideas on the topics relevant to the present times.

Sandhya Prakash, the founder of MEVEG said, “Scientific studies and opinion show that a vegetarian diet significantly reduces the risk of many diseases including heart disease, diabetes, cancers and improved overall life expectancy rates. Vegetarianism also is the single most effective way to save our environment. This will remain the focus for this year’s conference delivered by people who have made a significant contribution to the Vegetarian movement.”

The chairman of the IVU, Mrs. Marly Winkler, a vegan herself has expressed delight at the prospect of the first of its kind event ever to be held in the Middle East.

This year as a highlight, Nabati certificates will be awarded to organizations committed to being 100% Vegetarian. Nabati means vegetarian in Arabic.

A plant based lunch will be provided along with a Certificate of Participation to all full-day attendees of the MEVEG Conference for showing their support towards promoting increased consumption of plant-based foods and healthy living.

IVU is the umbrella organization based in the UK and oldest with 120 plus organizations as members from all over the world.
