OXNARD, Calif. - Nov. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- To help Ventura County’s regional food bank have a successful holiday food drive, PODS, a local and storage company, will support and carry the heavy weight of FOOD Share’s CAN-tree Collection event. On Dec. 5-7, PODS will help transport more than 50,000 canned goods with its signature PODS® containers to the site of the food drive at The Collection at RiverPark. In addition, a 16-foot PODS container will become a holiday broadcast booth throughout the weekend.

Canned goods delivered will be used for the construction of more than 175 CAN-trees—holiday trees made with 600-800 canned goods— constructed by teams of local businesses and communities, including a 14-foot CAN-tree made with 10,000 canned goods sponsored by the Ventura County Credit Union.

“We’ve supported CAN-tree Collection from day one when FOOD Share introduced this incredible holiday food drive and we are thrilled to see how much this vital event has grown in just three short years,” said Steve Yapp, owner of PODS of Tri-Counties. “So we are happy to provide more PODS containers and hands on deck to ensure the safe and secure transport of canned goods that will provide more than 150,000 pounds of food for the hungry.”

“PODS has always been a great partner of ours and we’re always so grateful that Steve and his team always come through at times we need it most,” said Bonnie Weigel, president and CEO of FOOD Share. “Their ability to provide logistics to ensure participating teams receive all of the canned goods to build trees for FOOD Share will make for a successful event.”
