PRLog -- In 2007 the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection required that residential heating oil contractors be licensed by the NJDEP. Prior to 2007, residential oil tanks could be removed by demolition contractors, container hauling companies , Landscapers. plumbers and general excavators. Although the tanks may have been removed and inspected by the muncipality there is no guarentee that leaking tanks were missed or that leaking tanks were purposely modified to decieve the construction official. A New Jersey Registered Home Improvement Contractor is not a lIcensed oil tank contractor. He does not have pollution liability insurance and can not close a open NJDEP case. The NJDEP requires all residential heating oil tank contractors be licensed with the NJDEP and at minimum have a NJDEP Subsurface Evaluator License and NJDEP Tank Closure License. Environmental Systems has maintained these licenses since 1993 and has has Licensed Site Remediation Professionals ( LSRPs) on staff s.since 2013. Having technically qualified staff assures licensed supervision and heating oil tank removed in accordence with the NJDEP Technical Regulations For Site Remediation .A improverly removed leaking oil tank can cause additional serious environmental issues and subject the New buyers to property clean-up that can exceed $ 30000. Every oil tank removed by Environemntal Systems is inspected by a LSRP for signs of holes, excessive corrosin and heating oil discharge. Having a LSRP on site during the remove insures that no heating is further discharged in to the surrounding soils and soil tests are completed at imediate time of removal not weeks or months later. Many property owners have found out that not having a properly licensed residential oil tank contractor can lead to loss of a sale and legal action later for clean-up and damages. Envronmental Systems has been a NJDEP certified UHOT contractor since 2007.
