TUNBRIDGE WELLS, U.K. - Nov. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Launching today on the online disease and medicines knowledge base epgonline.org is a free to use blog platform for healthcare professionals (HCPs). Here, users will be able to share clinical and non-clinical advice, information, opinion, anecdotes and more with a global community of over half a million medical peers.

Last year, EPG Health Media, publisher of the independent medical website epgonline.org, surveyed 250 HCPs on the topic of blogging. They found that 60% of physicians reported regularly accessing medical blogs for professional purposes – more than any other social platform. 42% also revealed that they were dissatisfied by the lack of blogs available for healthcare professionals. Furthermore, the majority (83%) of those that already blogged said they would be keen to contribute to a new blogging platform on epgonline.org.

There’s no doubt that blogs are an increasingly powerful tool for HCPs to use to connect with peers and share information. However, time restraints, a lack of confidence and a limited readership can hold healthcare bloggers back. To address these concerns, the epgonline.org blog provides a secure platform and support in reaching an actively engaged audience of medical professionals. There are no strict rules, deadlines or commitments to abide by and regular bloggers will be recognised and awarded special status.

General practitioners, consultants, nurses, pharmacists and other types of HCP globally simply need to register at www.epgonline.org/blog/register and create their own profile in order to enjoy free and unlimited access to the blog. In addition to the blog, users will have access to a wealth of clinical content on epgonline.org, including a database of approved medications in 9 European languages, clinical trial reports, guidelines for treatment, journal abstracts, apps, latest medical industry news and a library of sponsored educational resources – all categorised by medical specialty.

Chris Cooper, Managing Director at EPG Health Media said: “the growing popularity of self-publishing through blogs and social media sites is leading to significant innovations in medical practice, providing doctors and other healthcare professionals with additional means to communicate and share medical knowledge. The launch of the epgonline.org blog will support this and provide a live forum to discuss, debate and build a thriving community of medical peers.”
