15-40 Connection Joins the National #GivingTuesday Movement to Encourage Spending with a Purpose

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. - Nov. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- For the third year in a row, 15-40 Connection, a non-profit organization committed to empowering the lifesaving advantage of early cancer detection, has joined the Giving Tuesday (http://15-40.org/givingtuesday/) movement. Taking place on December 2, 2014, Giving Tuesday is a day when people around the world celebrate the generosity that the holiday spirit inspires by using the internet and social media to take action, give and share.

15-40 Connection is asking you to join with them on Giving Tuesday to use YOUR voice and support to improve cancer survival rates. You may save the life of someone you know.

To do this, 15-40 Connection would like you to ask 2 friends: “Would you recognize a cancer symptom?” Or 15-40 Connection will email two of your friends or loved ones to ask the question and provide the answer on your behalf.

You can also support 15-40 Connection educational programming and help empower thousands with a Giving Tuesday gift or pledge.

“We are excited to once again be joining organizations around the world and sharing in the spirit of Giving Tuesday,” said Jim Coghlin, Founder of 15-40 Connection. “We are encouraging people to empower others with the lifesaving advantage of early cancer detection and to initiate a conversation with several friends or family members, asking the question, ‘Would you recognize a cancer symptom?’“

It’s been proven that when cancer is detected at its earliest stages, treatment decisions are easier, recovery is faster and the chance of survival is greater.

“We are also asking for help in raising funds to keep this conversation going among teens and young adults, so that we can reduce delays in diagnosis and improve cancer survival rates,” said Tricia Scannell Laursen, Executive Director of 15-40 Connection. “We know the lead up to the holiday season means a lot of spending on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but the difference we can all make on Giving Tuesday is really what the holiday season is all about.”

About 15-40 Connection

15-40 Connection is raising awareness of the fact that cancer survival rates in teens and young adults aged 15 to 40 have barely improved since 1975, in large part because of delays in diagnosis.
