WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Nov. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- New Westchester Symphony Orchestra (NewWSO) announces its third annual Messiah Sing-Along on Sunday, December 7, 3pm at the Briarcliff Congregational Church in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Now in its third year, the event has established itself as a unique and welcome addition to the holiday music season in Westchester County. Due to venue size, seating will be limited to 200 audience, and online ticket purchase is highly recommended.

Traditional Messiah Sing-Alongs are typically accompanied by piano or organ. While audience members always sing the choruses, the arias are usually sung by professional soloists.

NewWSO has created a new tradition of community-created music by having a full orchestra accompany the audience of singers, who will sing both choruses and arias. The full orchestra accompaniment, plus the opportunity to sing beloved arias such as "I Know That My Reedemer Liveth" and "The Trumpet Shall Sound," transforms the event into a thrilling experience for everyone involved.

The complete choruses from Parts I, II and III will be on the program. The sing-along will conclude with "Worthy is the Lamb," the final chorus of Part III. The event will last approximately two hours.

Audience members may bring their own score, borrow one from the orchestra (included in the price of admission), or purchase one from the orchestra. Listeners are welcome to purchase a ticket and enjoy the music without having to sing.

NewWSO is an audition-free orchestra comprised of local amateur musicians and conducted by Benjamin Niemczyk. The orchestra will play from the Mozart orchestration/Prout edition of Handel's masterpiece, which includes the full complement of orchestral instruments rather than the more usual strings-only orchestration.

Maestro Niemczyk states, "Mozart's meticulous planning yields a surprisingly whimsical Messiah, one that involves the symphony orchestra and chorus in a way few pieces do. This rare event should not be missed."
