Spark Design & Architecture Award Winners Announced For 2014The Spark Design Awards are competitions that encourage and honor designs that make the world a better place. First held in 2007, this year the awards were focused into seven categories.
By: Spark Design & Architecture Awards The list and photos of the winning designs are available at the Spark Awards website. The winners range from the Bronze Award winners to the highest award, the Spark! Each major design category had unique juries, including Product & Health Design, Spaces Design, Transport Design, Experience Design, Graphic Design, Screen Design and Concept Design. Jurors worked with a variety of media, including display boards, models, prototypes, digital images, storyboards, videos and physical designs. "Spark Transport judges reviewed a wide range of transportation options," according to Transport Jury Chair, Margaret Wies, VP Advanced Design Lab, Mercedes-Benz. "This jury reviewed heavy equipment concepts, E-bikes, aircraft interiors, train stations, airports, scooters—even an advanced pedestrian bridge." The competitions featured many pieces that reflect Spark's mission to emphasize "good design"—works that contribute directly to building a better place to live. "With over 125 winning designs, we can't illustrate all of them in this release," Kuchnicki stated. "However, many will be exhibited at the Spark Awards Pavilion at the China International Industrial Design Fair, November 28–December 2 in Shenzhen. Spark is mounting the exhibition of 2014 winners in a 175sm space designed by Mitchell Mauk of San Francisco." "The winners will also be exhibited in the Autodesk Gallery in San Francisco in February and may be viewed at our website. We highly recommend visiting the Spark Galleries. The work speaks for itself. It's outstanding and we applaud all the discipline, creativity and difficult choices that went into them. Bravo—entrants, finalists, winners and jurors of the 2014 Spark Design Awards!" Winning Firms: AECOM AKITIPE STUDIOS Allsteel, Inc.
