NYC Sex Crimes Lawyer Announces Hung Jury in Staten Island Rape Case

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Nov. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- The rape case against L.S. in Staten Island seemed horrific in the beginning. The client was accused of rape and the claim by the prosecutor was that there was medical evidence to support this claim. However, after months of hiding evidence and only revealing the evidence at the last minute, the medical evidence simply did not hold up. "I have never seen this type of obstruction from a prosecutor like I saw in this case. We were told on Saturday that there were no pictures of the medical exam, only to be told on Monday morning that one picture had been found. This is not acceptable behavior. As a former prosecutor I am appalled," Mr. Discioarro said.

In speaking with the jury after they hung with a10-2 vote to acquit, it was clear that the case had serious flaws and the prosecutors were trying to hide them. One of the most striking comments from the prosecutors came when they asked the judge to raise the defendant's bail while the jury was still deliberating. The judge wisely declined stating that no one knows which way the jury will head. One of the key witnesses in this case for the defense was D. Jennier Canter who was able to educate the jury on how a proper examination is done. The jury found her to be an excellent witness.
