Shadows Foundation partners with community for an adventure of a lifetime to Corey Vargas

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Nov. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Shadows Foundation had the opportunity to provide an adventure for twenty one year old Corey Vargas who had suffered a fall in 2010 that had paralyzed him from the waist down. Vargas, an avid outdoorsman, would not take the news of being in a wheelchair the rest of his life and today walks with the aid of leg braces and arm crutches.

With the support of Flagstaff Police Department, Guardian Air, Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course, Summit Fire Department, Sunstate Equipment and KAFFCountry Radio, Shadows Foundation President, Vicki Taunton Burton created a day of adventure for Vargas.

“When I was contacted by Loretta, Corey’s Mom and heard his story, I knew this young man deserved a unique experience and began to develop a day of adventure for Corey” stated, Burton Taunton. “Our strong community partnerships made his day one to remember.”

The adventure began at KAFFCountry radio where Vargas was surprised with the events of the day. On the beautiful November morning, Vargas was geared up for a zip line course at Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course and Sunstate Equipment provided a lift to carry Vargas to the top of the course. After a lunch provided by the Lumberyard Brewery, Vargas hit the skies with Guardian Air for a tour of Northern Arizona. Landing at Flagstaff Police Department, Vargas was taken to the private law enforcement training area, MILO, where he quickly adapted to the simulated environment and was awesome on the course.
