Doylestown, PA (PRlog)November 9, 2014 - Don Hass, the Developmental coach for USA Skeleton based in Lake Placid, NY announced Friday that three teens, including Kindrick Carter of Warrington PA, will begin a rigorous course of training and competition leading up to the 2016 Youth Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.

Kindrick, along with Rebecca Hass of Oswego, NY, and Kalyn McGuire of Queensboro, NY, recently completed a week long training program in Lake Placid, NY. The trio will travel to Lillehammer, Norway in December to both train and compete in their first race leading up to next years Youth Olympic Games.

Skeleton racing involves a single athlete riding on a small sled, head first, on an ice track approximately one mile long that test the athlete's ability at speeds that can reach 80 or 90 mph.

Kindrick Carter, a student at Lenape Middle School in Doylestown, PA, first became interested in the sport of Skeleton while watching the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics on television.  “Watching the Olympics I saw a skeleton race and was astonished by how fast they were going and I just knew I had to do the sport.  After testing well at the combine this summer, I’m now in an incredible position as a candidate for the 2016 Youth Olympics.  I know I have a long way to go, and with community support I know I’ll get there - and hopefully bring home a medal.”

The Youth Olympic Games are an elite sporting event for young people from all over the world.  Distinct from other youth sports events, the Youth Olympic Games also integrate a Culture and Education Program (CEP), based around five main themes: Olympism, Social Responsibility, Skills Development, Expression and Well-being and Healthy Lifestyles.
