Siemens highlights strategy and values at KAUST Career Fair

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia - Nov. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- ·    Siemens participated at the KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) Career Fair 2014 to strengthen university relations, explore career prospects with students and consider potential in research and development.

KAUST is a graduate research university in Thuwal on the Red Sea. It has a diverse graduate student body that continues to attract, develop and invest in top local and international talent. The University offers intellectual fulfillment with a clear focus on integrating research and education, leveraging science and engineering as well as facilitating the Kingdom’s economic diversification through technological development.

With a history spanning more than 80 years in Saudi Arabia, Siemens is positioned along the electrification, automation and digitalization value chains. Siemens’ commitment to education and technological advancement in the Kingdom resonates with that of KAUST hence the decision to participate at the KAUST Career Fair on 22 and 23 October 2014. Mr. Waleed Hefni, Head of Human Resources said, “Our decision to participate this year, and in previous years, is business focused. Companies are competitive through people and this career fair provides an opportunity to engage among the best.” The two-day event, attended by more than 350 students, included a comprehensive program wherein Siemens provided an overview of the company’s strategy, Vision 2020, responded to questions from students in a panel discussion and hosted several candidates in pre-arranged interviews. In addition, relationships with key senior staff at KAUST were initiated.

Siemens presented its strategy and values to a highly qualified and attentive audience and highlighted sustainable growth, portfolio alignment and business excellence as key focus areas. In addition, the company’s renewed ownership culture was explained highlighting themes such as “responsibility” and “commitment”. The panel discussion provided an opportunity to reflect on Siemens’ corporate values – responsible, innovative and excellent.

Siemens is a founding member of the KAUST Industrial Collaboration Program (KICP) that aims to intensify cooperation with industry both locally and abroad. Since its inception in 2009, the Program is focused on research and development initiatives in renewable energy, smart technologies and bio-engineering. This partnership represents an excellent platform for exploring local research and development potential.

Mr Jerry McDonald, Lead Career Counselor at KAUST said, "Students provided exceptionally positive feedback about Siemens‘ presentation and participation in the panel discussion.“

A Doctoral student in Mechanical Engineernig commented, “Siemens deserves special recognition for being focused and direct in their communication. They obviously came prepared. They know the requirements of graduates and they came with the answers."
