WASHINGTON, DC – Emerging artist Larry Jones of Larry Jones Studios has been selected to participate in the annual Prince George’s Sampler—2014 Prince George’s County Juried Exhibition held at the Brentwood Arts Exchange in Brentwood, Maryland. The sculpture chosen for the exhibit is titled Iron Mule, 2014. Larry Jones was one of 38 artists selected to participate in the sampler. The exhibition will run from November 3 through December 27, 2104 at the Brentwood Arts Exchange, 3901 Rhode Island Ave, Brentwood, Maryland. An opening reception is scheduled for November 8, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Exhibition is free to attend. Jones lives in the Washington DC Metropolitan area and has been creating art from his personal studio for the past several years, making his debut in May 2012 at the Artomatic 2012 event in Crystal City, Virginia. Regarding this art show Jones stated “I am very pleased and honored to have been chosen from the many talented artists in this booming metropolitan area. It is gratifying to have my work seen and appreciated by others.” The Juror for the 2014 Prince George’s Sampler is Ms. Myrtis Bedolla. Myrtis Bedolla is founding director of Galerie Myrtis, a contemporary fine art gallery located in Baltimore, Maryland. She possesses over 20 years of experience as an advisor to private and institutional collectors in the acquisition and sale of fine art; and provides professional curatorial services, lectures and educational programming to corporate, civic and arts organizations. She is the recipient of the Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship, African Language Institute, Shona Language and Culture, from Michigan State University; holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, University College, and received her curatorial training at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. As cultural liaison for the embassies of Ghana, Haiti, Mali, Republic of Georgia and Zimbabwe; Ms. Bedolla uses art to encourage cultural exchange and awareness. – Prince George’s Parks About Artist Larry Jones: Larry Jones is a self-described artistic engineer designing and fabricating abstract steel sculptures and abstract paintings living and working in Bowie, Maryland. As an emerging artist, he strives to have his work seen and appreciated by many with his ultimate goal (as with most artists) of having his own solo showing. Larry Jones is a self-taught artist that bends and fabricates his sculptures by hand. All pieces are formed into their individual shapes by his hands, thus making his work completely original from conception to the finished product.
