Ship Channel Security District Highlights Collaboration, Training, Equipment Protecting Ship Channel

HOUSTON - Nov. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- U.S. Coast Guard Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy, Rear Admiral Paul Thomas, will deliver the luncheon keynote to close the Houston Ship Security District annual meeting Wednesday, November 12. Thomas is a specialist in marine safety, port security and environmental protection. He previously served as commanding officer of the Marine Safety Unit in Galveston , Texas .

Prior to lunch, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and U.S. Coast Guard Captain Brian Penoyer will join Houston Ship Channel Security District (HSCSD) chairman Gary Scheibe for an 11 a.m. news conference. They willshare updates on security equipment, training and collaborative initiatives in place to protect the Port of Houston , refining and petrochemical plants and communities adjacent to the Houston Ship Channel.

The annual meeting features updates on training programs and security initiatives, as well as security equipment displayed in the parking lot of the Houston Marriott South from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. The HSCSD annual meeting is from 9 – 11 a.m. and is open to the public.
