The alternative rock band Katastro has released their newest EP today, No Mud No Lotus. The album was recorded at Red Mountain Studios in Tempe, AZ, with producer Curtis Douglas (The Maine, Eagles In Drag, This Century, Austin Gibbs and Sarah Robinson, The Midnight Special), who set out along with the band to make an album that is open and accessible, while preserving their signature style.

On No Mud No Lotus , drummer Andrew Stravers explains, “The name is derived from the idea of Yin and Yang, in that in order to achieve success and happiness, you have to experience some hard times.”

No Mud No Lotus has already notched over 120,000 total streams on SoundCloud, with the lead single “Runaway” shooting up to the top of SoundCloud’s Alternative Rock Trending Music Chart, currently with over 75,000 streams.

With inspirations from West Coast Hip-Hop acts like Atmosphere and Hieroglyphics to 90’s alt-rockers The Red Hot Chili Peppers and the legendary Jimi Hendrix, lead singer Andy Chaves shares that, “The songs (on the new album) definitely tell more stories than our previous songs, they have more meaning. From the first track, “Better Half of L.A.”, which is a fun song, to the moody and darker tracks “Junkie and a Gentleman” and “Voices”, this album has a lot of moods.”

Katastro will hit the road in support of their new EP over the winter with The Expendables, Ballyhoo! And Fortunate Youth for 2014 Winter Blackout Tour, spanning over 40 dates throughout the United States. “This will be our first national winter tour, and it's our first time out with either band, plus we haven't been out on the road since August, so we're more than ready to go," says Chaves. The last time they were on tour was with The Dirty Heads and Pepper, playing their largest tour to date, including major venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre playing a capacity crowd of 9500 fans.
