MONTREAL - Nov. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Kick off those summertime sandals and strap on some skis. What better way to wrap your head around the changing seasons than a visit to Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, NY. The slogan “Ski the Face” says it all!!!

Olivier Rochon member of the Canadian Freestyle Skiing team will be our spokesperson and will be available for interview on November 11- 12th in Montreal & November 13th in Ottawa.

Why WhiteFace:

When you get to the top of Whiteface Mountain, you'll be at the top of Northeast skiing. No ski mountain in the East reaches higher. Around you, dozens of Adirondack peaks jut into the horizon. The fresh air filling your lungs has just blown over a protected park larger than Yellowstone and Yosemite, combined. Below you lie trails that have led Olympic athletes to glory. American Phil Mahre won silver here in the 1980 Winter Olympics (http://www.whiteface.com/files/public/Whiteface-Olympics1.jpg). Andrew Weibrecht, a Lake Placid local who grew up skiing at Whiteface, earned a Bronze Medal in Super G at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and a Silver at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics! It's your turn.

The views from Whiteface encompass all sides and include the Green Mountains of Vermont, the skyscrapers in Montreal on a very clear day, and the White Mountains of New Hampshire on an even clearer day.

Beginner or Pro, we have you covered:

Take a lesson at Whiteface and you'll come away with more than just a few pointers. You'll have a lasting confidence, know-how and affection for the sport that will lead you to the top of the mountain again and again. The instructors do this because they love to ski and ride. They'll share tips on technique, but they'll also share their love of this sport and this mountain. In essence, that's what great coaches do—they inspire. At the end of a day, not only will you ski better, you'll love it.

For those of you with the skills and judgment to match, welcome to the Slides.  A series of steep, narrow chutes, the Slides are open only when Ski Patrol deems them safe. This is expert-only terrain—35 acres of in-bounds, off-piste, double black-diamond wilderness skiing accessible by hiking from the top of the Summit Quad.  Once you get there, you'll be a few hundred feet above Vermont's tallest mountain and three times as high as the top of the Empire State Building. There's no snowmaking on the Slides, so below you will be nothing but nature's finest offerings. But don't let it get to your head. Skiing the Slides demands skill and concentration. In one area, for example, there's a frozen waterfall beneath all that snow. Give the Slides the respect they deserve, and they'll give you the ride of your life.

A good day on the mountain requires good food:

On the mountain itself are six restaurants featuring delicious, energy-boosting food and beverages. Popular brands and regional favorites selected by their culinarians refresh and refuel the guests as they enjoy their day on the mountain. We invite you to savor...

About WhiteFace mountain:

Whiteface opened in 1958 and has earned its place in the annals of big-mountain skiing. It has the greatest vertical drop in the east, which means if pointing the boards downhill is your thing, you'll have plenty of opportunities. We regularly stage major national and international skiing events, yet welcome first-time skiers and riders every day. We have 87 trails (a third of which are rated for expert skiers), 11 lifts including a gondola, terrain parks, adrenaline-pumping glades skiing, and six Whiteface restaurants (http://www.whiteface.com/mountain/services/dining-whiteface). Whiteface is the Olympic Mountain, which means not only can you carve the same turns as the world's best racers, you can visit the other Olympic facilities, like the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex (http://www.whiteface.com/facilities/olympic-jumping-complex) and the Olympic Sports Complex (http://www.whiteface.com/facilities/olympic-sports-complex), just down the road in Lake Placid.  This is a place that has brought the best out of world-class athletes, outdoor enthusiasts, all-mountain skiers and riders and beginners for years. It's your turn.
