Follow on Google News | Local Small Business Owners Say Charity Event is “For the Birds!”By: An Owl's Bazaar So how do small local charities raise much-needed funds for their worthwhile causes? Sometimes, they pair up with local community-minded small business owners, and they throw a party! That’s exactly what the Melbourne Avian Rescue Sanctuary (M.A.R.S.) of Melbourne Beach, Florida is doing next weekend. “An Evening at the Plaza” is being held Sunday November 9th from 4:00p – 8:00p (later if everybody is still having fun) at the Lori Laine Plaza on South Patrick Drive in Satellite Beach to raise much needed funds for this local charity. Lori Laine small business owner, Heather Hayduk and her family, of An Owl’s Bazaar is sponsoring the event with the support of several other fellow small business owners. Hayduk’s family owned and operated retail store specializes in upcycled and repurposed furniture, home décor, “Melissa & Doug” toys, Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects, and LOCAL ART! Most of the store’s 12 featured local artists will be in attendance offering their creative work towards the cause. “We really wanted to give something back to our community, which has been SO overwhelmingly supportive. It should be a BLAST!” said Hayduk of the event. Tickets are just a $5 donation to M.A.R.S. at the door and included food by Banana River Café, “Shopping for a Cause” at An Owl’s Bazaar and neighbor Treasures By The Sea, a cash bar for wine and beer, and even a “Retro Cocktail Tasting” by Parrot Parents of Brevard! There will be a silent auction, raffle, door prizes, and a whole lot of FUN! End
